For some years the UK has seen a boom in the number of budget national hotel chains all around the country. Giving a false impression of value for money, they have attracted thousands of guests each year. Their growth has been unchallenged by smaller establishments; in the past the smaller hotels and B&B’s have suffered a poor reputation, and have lost a lot of business to these corporate giants. However, anecdotal evidence suggests that customers have grown weary with the ready made, impersonal environment of these multi-story monstrosities. Thankfully, managers and owners of smaller unique hotels have pulled their socks up and begun to win business back. If you manage or own a small hotel, you can gain the competitive edge and earn customer loyalty which will bring the guest back to you time and time again. Ensure that every guest is treated as an individual; give them a warm and personal service during every moment of their stay with you. Because your small friendly hotel doesn’t have to cater for hundreds of guests at a time, you can afford to invest time and effort into creating a warm, appealing atmosphere and a personal service. By offering a range of service and facilities which are tailored to the specific needs of your client, they will feel that they are ultimately receiving much better value for money. It’s not just a question of room rates; being able to offer quality food, local expertise and an individual service are all important elements in your service/price package.
